California HOSA

Affiliation Survey

Overview

Local chapter affiliation in Cal-HOSA requires each chapter adviser to complete the following online survey.

To affiliate as a Cal-HOSA chapter, secondary schools must have a Career Technical Education (CTE) Health Science and Medical Technology (HSMT) pathway or a sequence of Health Science and Medical Technology courses or offer skill specific courses such as courses offered through a Regional Occupation Center or Program.

Health Science and Medical Technology courses should meet the CTE course requirements as provided in the definition below:

CTE Requirements

To affiliate as a Cal-HOSA chapter you must have a/an:

      • Career Technical Education (CTE) health science pathway, or
      • health science sequence of courses, or
      • health science academy, or
      • course or courses that meet the CTE course requirement
      • advisor or co-advisor that has a CTE health science and medical technology credential
      • five (5) students and one advisor to start
      • school administration and district supportive of the chapter

Private schools must provide documentation of CTE content in a sequence of courses aligned with the California Department of Education CTE Model Curriculum Standards within the designated CTE pathway and leadership skills embedded within the courses. The instructor/advisor must have a CTE credential or documentation of industry experience within the designated health science pathway.

Middle School

Middle School  chapters must be a feeder program to a high school with a CTE HSMT sequence of courses/pathway as described above.

Postsecondary/Collegiate

Postsecondary/Collegiate must have students in a health science program or major and an involved advisor.

Student members must be currently enrolled in a CTE option as described above. A single online CTE course does not qualify a student as eligible for Cal-HOSA membership.

IMPORTANT!
All continuing chapters must have a zero balance to affiliate. All financial obligations must be cleared prior to affiliation.
