History

Cal-HOSA began in California in 1986 with 354 members. Today Cal-HOSA has grown by about 20-26% yearly.  Membership will soon reach 11,000 with over 200 chapters throughout the state. Cal-HOSA serves the health science and health careers students enrolled in Career Technical Education programs at middle school, high school and postsecondary education in California. Cal-HOSA is not a club, rather a health science and medical technology curriculum strategy that is part of an instructional program that prepares students for health care careers.
